Despite a young love of flowers, Alex came to floral design as a second career. For over 10 years Alex worked as a Register Nurse in Australia & New Zealand. After suffering some burnout Alex took a career break from nursing, she studied a floristry course during this time. From the moment the course began Alex knew her life was changed, it would head in a new direction, one filled with creativity and beauty. The Flower Press was born. 

Alex works from her home studio in Westmorland, a space filled with natural light, fresh florals and an ever increasing collection of vases.

She sources inspiration from nature, travel experiences, her love of fashion, her clients, and fellow artists. She aims to create atmosphere and express emotions in her floristry. Every piece is carefully considered & created with love.

Alex strongly believes in taking every step she can towards a more sustainable future. She is constantly seeking new techniques in floral design and floristry practice for ways she can reduce waste and harm to the planet. All of the Flower Press floral installations are designed using sustainable techniques. The Flower Press does not use any floral foam.

Outside of her work, Alex enjoys spending time with her husband & daughter, her friends, walking her dog, reading, baking & when time allows visiting new restaurants & wineries. A cup of tea in the sunshine with a good book is her ideal me time.
